Yuba Pass Sno-Park

This time around, we’re looking at another Sno-Park! This one is an excellent location for those in the North Tahoe area.

Since we were staying in Sierraville on this trip, we decided to check out this quite northern Sno-Park. It’s only about 45 mins from Truckee, or about 20 mins from Sierravile. It sits at about ~6700ft for reference.

Don’t Forget Your Permit!

There is a pretty decent sized parking area on the south side of the freeway. But do be careful when you go. This is also a snowmobile hotspot, so it the parking lot gets full sometimes with huge trucks and trailers.

Directly next to the parking lot is a large open area. While it’s right next to the highway, it does look like it would make a nice spot for some pre- or post-skiing zoomies!

Being a Sno-Park, there are restrooms and some information before you get to the trail.

Then you get to the start of the trail. In the summer, this is Yuba Pass Road. It’s nice and wide, leaving plenty of room for snowmobiles to pass you, and it’s a very mellow trail with not a lot of incline one way or the other. You get a few fun hills, but nothing to worry about. We went here for our second ski of the day and the dogs were still able to pull us a good portion of the trail out and back.

Once you get going, you’'ll quickly pass the Yuba Pass Campground on your right. Then the rest of the trail (at least as far as we went) is nothing but a nice wide even trail and some amazing mountain scenery!

Overall we thing this spot is amazing. It’s a little out of the way for most Tahoe trips, but if you’re up in the north of Tahoe, we really recommend checking it out!
