Taylor Creek Sno-Park

The other weekend, we got to go up to Taylor Creek Sno-Park with some friends! It was a very nice spot and we will definately be back.

It’s very close to South Lake Tahoe (only about 10-15 mins outside the city) which makes it very convenient if you’re already staying in the area. The parking area is a pretty good size, standard for most sno-parks in the area.

Just off the parking area is a large open area for snow play. There are some long shallow hills for sledding, a good amount of flat area too for your snowman making and snowball fights.

But we aren’t those people, so let’s talk trails! There are some, good ones, and they were a ton of fun to go skiing on.

You’re looking at not a huge steep elevation change anywhere, and nice rolling hills on-and-off to make it fun. There are a few paths you can take it looks like, but we started off north along where Cathedral Road would be in non-snowy days. The path we took was nice and wide, great for skiing with dogs.

After a while, we got into what seemed like the middle of nowhere. You’re passing through some beautiful scenery…

And don’t worry, there are lots of sticks to chomp along the way if you get hungry… or bored…

At a certain point we checked the maps and realized Fallen Leaf Lake was to our left just over a crest. We B-lined for it, which did require cresting a rather large hill, but was totally worth it. If you keep following the road you also get to the lake, it’s just a much longer trek.

However you get there, the lake is where you want to end up, because you’ll be greeted by this amazing view

Long story short, we’d really recommend spending some time here next time you’re in the SLT area!
